EXPRESS RENTAL F.A.Q.

How will you process my Express Rental Application?

After receiving your application we'll typically complete a credit background check. If the credit score is acceptable we'll notify you, usually within 24-48 hours, by e-mail or letter letting you know the status of your application and, if approved, that your instrument has been set aside and is awaiting your pick-up. We do have multiple programs available for folks who may have had some credit challenges.

How long will you hold my Express Rental instrument for us to pick-up?

Typically we'll reserve Express Rental Instruments for one week after we're in touch to let you know it's ready. We are happy to hold it a little longer if you request.

What is the term of your Rent-To-Own Agreement?

The length of contract for each kind of instrument is different. It will be clearly shown on your Rental Agreement. Before the end of the contract term a customer will often either purchase the instrument using the equity they have accumulated or return it because their child no longer needs it.

How much is the monthly payment and what does it cover?

The monthly payment for new trumpets, trombone, clarinet, flutes, violin and viola is $33. Other instruments like the Saxophone and Cello are available at a higher price and snare drum kits and bell kits are available for a lower price. Previously rented instruments, as available, are also priced lower. The payment is ALL INCLUSIVE. It covers the instrument along with Maintenance and Repair, Insurance and Tax. There are no surprise last minute add-ons. Please give us a call at Moore Music about any pricing questions you have.

Can I change instruments during the rental period?

Yes. If your child elects to change instruments Moore Music applies 60% of the total rental amount you paid on the first instrument as credit toward the new instrument.

Is there any credit from the rental if we step-up to an intermediate or professional level instrument during the rental term?

This is a good question. Some companies appear to offer this. What they are really doing is offering to apply your rental payments for a specified period ( e.g. 12 months ) to the inflated list price of a step-up instrument. Often they will restrict the step-up instruments to which one can apply this credit to a certain line of "model equivalent" instruments from a single manufacturer. In this instance these instruments do not have the recognized model designation which may unfavorably impact its possible re-sale value down the road. Here at Moore Music we prefer to just be straightforward. What our customers find is that is when they purchase an intermediate or professional instrument from us and pay our everyday deeply discounted price that they save more than if they applied the allowed rental credit to an inflated list price and paid the difference elsewhere. We also give you access to our full inventory of instruments, all of which have the normally recognized model number designations.

What if the instrument needs repair?

Simply drop it off at Moore Music. All repairs are covered by your monthly payment.

How long do repairs take?

Typically 3 business days is all it takes. Sometimes a little less, and during the busy fall season it may take a little longer.

How do I make payments?

There are 3 options. You can choose to have us send you a coupon book and make payments through the mail or in person with the monthly coupon. Secondly, you can ask us to debit your credit card or debit card account each month. Thirdly you can pay for 10 months at the time of rental and receive the final two months of the first year free.

How long is the minimum term of the rental agreement?

There is no minimum rental period. You may return the instrument any time after the first month and owe nothing more than for the time you used the instrument.

Are there any incentives to payoff the instrument and buy it early?

Yes. If you buy your instrument within the first 3 months we will apply the entire amount of your rental payment including the amount for repair, maintenance and insurance coverage and taxes to the purchase price of the instrument AND we'll discount the instrument 20%. If you purchase the instrument after 3 months but before 6 months have elapsed since beginning the rental agreement we'll credit the entire amount of the monthly payments you have make toward the purchase of the instrument.

What if we have other questions about the rental program or how the instrument works and how to care for it?

Just call us at Moore Music. We are delighted to answer your questions. The number is 336-274-4636. We're open from 9:30AM - 7:00PM Monday - Friday; from 9:30AM - 4:00PM Saturday. (note: after September 23rd we will close at 6:00PM Monday - Friday.)

Why is the instrument's serial number important?

This is for insurance purposes. The serial number will be on your Rental Agreement. It is also on the instrument. It's a good idea for you to know where it is on the instrument. If you need help with this just ask when you pick-up the instrument. It's a good idea to keep the serial number in a safe place.

What does the insurance cover and what if we need to file a claim?

These are good questions and are covered in the terms of the Rental Agreement which is available here on-line. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Rental Agreement.

Can we rent a Previously-Rented instrument through the Express Rental Program?

The Express Rental Program is best for renting new instruments for two reasons. Firstly, there are a limited number of Previously-Rented Instruments available. They are often among the first instruments requested by our customers, and it's possible one may not be available when we receive your rental application. Secondly, when previously-rented instruments are available customers usually like to choose from among those we have. If you would like a previously-rented instrument and would like us to choose the best one available for you and set it aside for your Express Rental pick-up, just note that on your application.

My child will be playing percussion in the band. How do I know if they need a Snare Drum or Bell Kit first?

Here it's best to simply ask your child's band teacher. We're familiar with the preferences of many teachers, but they are the best source of advice.

Does the instrument come with everything you need to play it?

Yes. Your rental instrument will include a starter supply of reeds, bow rosin, cleaning rods, etc. depending on the instrument. The only thing you may need to add is a Band or Orchestra Method Book.
