As Director of Music Education and Community Outreach at Moore Music Company, my dream is to create access to music education for those who would not otherwise have access. One of the ways we expand our outreach is by partnering with other arts organizations around Greensboro. By sharing ideas and resources we are able to do more than we would have been able to do individually. This is the benefit of living and working in community!
I’m excited to announce a new collaboration with the Gant School of Music and Jazz (GMAJ) to offer sponsorships for low-income students taking private lessons. GMAJ is a 501(c)(3) organization located in Greensboro, NC, created to help low-income students gain access to the world of music and musicianship. Here’s how it works:
- Individuals and organizations donate instruments and funds to GMAJ. All donations are tax-deductible.
- GMAJ will then allocate those funds so students can be placed with expert instructors at partnering organizations like Moore Music Company.
- Moore Music Company will provide additional support by waiving registration fees for students applying through GMAJ, and connecting GMAJ with additional donors from the community.
- Students sponsored by GMAJ will receive the same benefits as all students of Moore Music Company: regular weekly lessons with one of our highly qualified instructors, a 10% discount on all sheet music and accessories, and support from our knowledgeable staff.
We need your help! If you would like to help sponsor a student by donating toward the cost of lessons or providing an instrument, click the button to donate below. Naomi Woods (Director of Music Education and Community Outreach, Violin Instructor) began studying the violin at the age of 9 and holds music degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She is overly competitive at card games and was dubbed "best detective slash genius" after the great rummy tournament of 2020. Naomi lives in Greensboro, NC, with her husband Tyler.

Margaret Halpin - Hi Naomi, I am a GMTA member and attended your zoom presentation last year to the group. You spoke of a piano organization who took keyboards into the neighborhoods for students to practice on and have lessons. Can you tell me the name of that organization and contact information? Thank You, Margaret
