Erik Schmidt
Erik Schmidt has been teaching percussion lessons at Moore Music since 2015, working with students of all ages and skill levels. Each of Erik's students will have the opportunity to learn to play drum set, marimba, hand drums, multi-percussion, concert snare drum, rudimental (marching) snare drum, and more! And his students get to demonstrate the results of their hard work by playing in a student recital each semester
Erik performs regularly as a collaborative percussionist throughout the Triad and across the country. He works in a wide variety of genres, specializing in styles such as 20th century chamber music, classical Arabic percussion, fusion tango, orchestral percussion, and free improvisation. Festivals and organizations he has played for include The Greensboro Opera, Nief Norf New Music Festival, Big Ears Music Festival, À La Carte Music Series, New Music Greensboro, North Carolina Middle Eastern Music Ensemble, Lebanese Festival in Raleigh, COLLAPPS New Music Ensemble, and The Lorena Guillén Tango Ensemble. He holds his Master of Music Performance degree from UNCG and a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
